KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Principal Cloud Consultant at Scale Factory, you’ll:
- Interact with customers regularly, acting as the go-to technical contact for those in your engagement portfolio.
- Own delivery management for a number of workstreams, helping to define and prioritise work, manage risks and provide guidance to junior colleagues.
- Perform in-depth discovery activities with clients, translating non-technical business requirements into technical solutions.
- Assist the Growth Team in a pre-sales capacity, providing technical input right from the start.
- Act as a technical authority for both delivery workstreams and the internal initiatives.
- Communicate effectively, both internally and externally with colleagues, clients and third parties to drive growth.
- Stay ahead of the curve by keeping up with emerging trends and certifications.
- Solving complex challenges with ingenuity and innovation.
- Drive continuous improvement both within your workstreams and across the wider delivery function.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re seeking a talented, passionate Principal Cloud Consultant to join our growing team. To be successful, you’ll be both technically excellent and a confident communicator, willing to own all aspects of a project from pre-sales, into discovery, design and implementation, as well as the delivery management thereof.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Eligibility for Security Clearance.
- Excellent Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders from C-suite down, both off the cuff and in more formal presentations or report writing.
- Business Savvy: Able to look behind the technical problems and understand the business drivers to change, prioritising accordingly and building consensus. A proven track record of spearheading successful projects, aligning multiple workstreams and managing client relationships.
- DevOps Mastery: Deep understanding of DevOps principles and how they transform businesses.
- People Leadership: Experience managing people and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- AWS Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and ability to articulate best practices for building secure, scalable platforms. Able to articulate the business value and ROI of cloud platforms.
- Architectural Know-How: Ability to design and implement complex cloud platforms incorporating legacy workloads, microservices and containerisation.
- CI/CD Pro: Proven experience with tools like GitHub, GitLab, or AWS DevOps Tooling, and expertise in deployment automation/orchestration.
- Networking Knowledge: Expert with networking concepts and how they translate to cloud environments: Virtual Networks, routing, DNS, Gateways, Load Balancers and more.
- Security Expert: Understanding of key AWS security services such as IAM, WAF, and KMS. Experience implementing best practices for securing data, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Awareness of compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO27001, PCI-DSS).
- Infrastructure-as-Code: Mastery of Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK or equivalent, and awareness of when to use different tools.
- Scripting & Automation: Skills in a scripting language like Python, Ansible, Bash, Groovy, Powershell, or similar.

- Azure or Google Cloud Experience: Ability to compare and contrast cloud offerings, especially in a migration scenario.
- AWS Professional Certification: If you don’t already have one, you’ll be given time to attain this in your first 3 months.
