Are you an accomplished Emissions or Air Quality Specialist ready to take on a senior role at the forefront of sustainable building design?

As an experienced Emissions or Air Quality Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping clients achieve their sustainability, environmental and regulatory objectives. Working across mission-critical, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects, you’ll provide expert guidance on air quality and emissions strategies that influence design decisions, planning outcomes and long-term operational performance.
You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage directly with clients, and contribute to the delivery of healthier, more sustainable and future-ready buildings.

Your Future With Us
- Leadership on Complex Environmental Projects - You’ll take the lead on air quality and emissions assessments across a wide range of building services and infrastructure projects, influencing decisions from concept design through to planning, construction and operation.
- Strategic Client Partnership - You’ll work closely with developers, contractors, end users and design teams, providing expert advice on air quality impacts, emissions compliance and mitigation strategies. Your ability to communicate complex technical information clearly will establish you as a trusted advisor.
- Technical Excellence & Innovation - You'll develop and review detailed air quality and emissions assessments, supporting planning applications, environmental studies and sustainability objectives. Your expertise will help shape solutions relating to energy generation plant, standby generators, CHP systems, heat pumps, building ventilation systems and wider building services infrastructure.
- Regulatory & Industry Leadership - You’ll remain at the forefront of evolving environmental legislation, local authority requirements, planning policy and best practice guidance, ensuring projects are delivered in compliance with UK and international standards.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration - Working alongside mechanical, electrical, sustainability, civil, structural and BIM specialists, you'll contribute to fully integrated design solutions that balance operational requirements with environmental performance.
- Talent Development & Team Growth - You’ll support and mentor junior consultants, contribute to technical excellence initiatives and help foster a collaborative culture focused on innovation, continuous improvement and professional development.
- Business Influence & Growth - You'll play an important role in strengthening client relationships, identifying new opportunities and supporting the continued growth of Black & White Engineering's environmental and sustainability services.

Essential Skills
- Extensive experience in air quality, emissions consultancy or environmental engineering within the built environment sector.
- Strong understanding of emissions and air quality impacts associated with building services systems including energy centres, standby generators, CHP, boilers, heat pumps and ventilation systems.
- Experience preparing air quality assessments, emissions studies and environmental reports to support planning and development projects.
- Knowledge of UK air quality legislation, planning requirements, IAQM guidance and relevant environmental standards.
- Experience using air dispersion modelling software such as ADMS, AERMOD or similar tools.
- Ability to interpret complex technical data and provide practical, commercially focused recommendations.
- Proven experience managing projects and engaging with clients and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Relevant degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Air Quality, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional membership with a recognised institution such as IEMA, CIWEM, IES or equivalent is desirable.
