Job Title: Principal Consultant – Decarbonisation & Transition Planning
Location: London – Hybrid
Salary & Package
- £65,000 – £78,000 (Depending on experience)

About the Role
Our client is hiring for an experienced Consultant to lead decarbonisation and transition planning projects for corporates, Private Equity-backed businesses and mid-market organisations across the UK and Europe.
This is a senior client-facing role focused on turning net zero ambitions into practical, costed and deliverable implementation plans across estates, fleet, operations, energy and supply chains.
You will also support wider climate and sustainability advisory projects, including Scope 3 reduction planning, IFRS S2 readiness and climate risk.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead decarbonisation and transition planning engagements
- Identify and assess key decarbonisation levers, including energy efficiency, heating and cooling, controls, lighting, renewable energy, fleet electrification, retrofit, supplier engagement and operational change.
- Develop practical carbon reduction roadmaps and investment cases
- Assess energy, operational and supply chain decarbonisation opportunities
- Build ROI, CapEx and payback models to support investment decisions
- Present board-level recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Support business development, proposals and client growth
- Mentor junior consultants and support team capability development

Requirements

- 8+ years’ experience in sustainability, energy, engineering or decarbonisation consulting
- Strong financial modelling and commercial advisory skills
- Combination of Decarbonisation expertise and Commercial Leadership
- Carbon reduction delivery.
- Significant experience in decarbonisation, built environment, engineering, sustainability consulting.
- Support clients across different ownership structures by linking decarbonisation to operational efficiency and value creation.
- Ability to turn financial and technical analysis into clear business cases that support investment decisions and senior stakeholder buy-in.
- Experience delivering practical carbon reduction programmes
- Experience of coordinating engineers, contractors, surveyors, technology providers or implementation partners.
- Strong understanding of Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 emissions
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience within Private Equity, investor advisory or built environment decarbonisation is advantageous
