Principal Consultant - Commercial Strategy & Transformation

We partner with leading pharmaceutical and biotech organisations, supporting them to address complex strategic and transformation challenges, including:
- Shaping commercial strategy
- Designing and delivering launch excellence
- Enabling global and local change embedment
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Principal Consultant specialising in Commercial Strategy and Transformation to:
- Lead high-impact engagements
- Expand and grow strategic accounts
- Shape the future of the practice within the Life Sciences sector
As a Principal at Gate One, your role will include senior leadership responsibilities across:
- Client delivery
- Business development
- Practice growth
Your primary focus will be on designing end-to-end commercial strategy engagements, spanning:
- Brand strategy
- Omnichannel design
- Launch planning
- In-market activation
At the same time, you will act as a senior trusted advisor to C-level stakeholders, aiding clients in navigating commercial complexity, aligning functions, and achieving measurable outcomes. You will also play a key role in growing key accounts and defining new opportunities for Gate One.
Additionally, you will contribute to:
- Capability development
- In-house thought leadership activities
- Practice expansion initiatives

Key Responsibilities
Lead Commercial Strategy & Engagement
- Own and execute large, high-value Life Sciences engagements, ensuring:
- Delivery accountability
- Quality insights
- Positive client outcomes
- Design and implement comprehensive commercial strategies, including:
- Brand positioning and omnichannel engagement frameworks
- Launch planning and activation roadmaps
- Transform complex challenges into structured, insight-driven recommendations
- Serve as senior advisor to stakeholders, providing clarity, commercial challenges and strategic guidance
- Oversee multiple engagements, maintaining strategic focus, pacing and high-quality outputs
Client Relationship & Ecosystem Delivery
- foster trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, aligning Gate One with strategic client partnerships
- Lead integration across complex, cross-functional teams including external partners (such as Havas)+
- Build transparency, collaboration and shared ownership among internal and client teams
Account Growth & Business Development
- Grow and own strategic Life Sciences accounts, expanding opportunities through:
- Quality client delivery
- Trusted partnerships
- Lead and participate in key client conversations, shaping and securing new business opportunities
- Identify unmet client needs, translating them into compelling proposals
- Play a leading role in high-value bids and proposals, ensuring strategic positioning
Practice Development & Team Leadership
- Develop and shape Gate One’s Life Sciences Commercial Strategy proposition, including tactics and go-to-market activities
- Contribute to thought leadership that strengthens positioning within the Life Sciences sector
- Lead team coaching and mentorship, driving consultation excellence and ethical leadership
- Empower consultant career growth through clear, inclusive engagement

About You
You are an experienced consultant at Senior Manager or Principal level, with a proven record in:
- Delivering Life Sciences-specific engagements
Ideal Profile:
- 10+ years of consulting or transformation experience
- Deep expertise in Life Sciences commercial strategy, brand planning, launch excellence and in-market optimisation
- Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical business models, including cross-functional collaboration between:
- Commercial
- Medical
- Market Access
- Record of end-to-end commercial strategy execution with measurable impact
- Proven structured problem-solving methodology, including hypothesis-led approaches
- Exceptional communicators with a talent for executive-level storytelling
- Strong background in business development, initiating opportunity creation and account expansion
- Experience in leading and developing teams, embodying collaborative and inclusive leadership
- Strong commercial acumen, ownership, and personal accountability
