Principal Consultant – Reporting and Disclosure
Department: Strat, Trans & Reporting : Advisory Location: UK – Bristol
About the Role
As a Principal Consultant in our Reporting and Disclosure team, you will be client-focused, leading, project managing, and supporting initiatives that enable organisations to communicate their progress on sustainability. Your expertise will ensure methodical execution, while also aligning with strategic market trends—bridging gap areas between technical reporting and high-level sustainability strategy.

Key Responsibilities
Your work spans three core focus areas:

Client & Project Delivery (65% of time)
- Project Management: Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to high-quality standards.
- Deliverable Development: Draft and present high-impact reports, presentations, and workshops aligned with project scope.
- Expert Quality Review: Provide deep technical insight and guide quality assurance on client materials.
- Trust-Building: Foster strong client relationships, championing their interests across their organisations.

Business Development (20% of time)
- Service Innovation: Help shape and refine our reporting solutions, designing delivery frameworks, pricing models, and internal standards.
- Key Account Growth: Support long-term, high-impact client partnerships.
- Proposal & Bid Writing: Co-author competitive project proposals with strategic pricing and structuring.
- Thought Leadership: Contribute to content creation and marketing materials that enhance Anthesis’s prestige in the sector.

- Organisational & Personal Development (15% of time)
- Learning & Upskilling: Engage with ACE (Anthesis Centre of Excellence) platforms and 1:1 manager development support.
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor more junior colleagues in project delivery.
- Strategic Contribution: participate in innovative initiatives that advance the firm’s approach.
- Talent Attraction: Support talent recruitment to expand high-performing teams.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
We welcome expertise from diverse backgrounds, including function shifts into sustainability. Typically, we’re seeking:
- 6+ years of experience in:
- Strategy consulting, ESG reporting consulting, or agency work, or
- In-house roles where sustainability reporting and implementation were core responsibilities.
- Core requirement: Proven expertise in sustainability reporting (e.g., CSRD, ISSB, GRI).
- Board-Level Influence: Comfort in engaging with CFOs, finance teams, and senior stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Confidence to navigate fast-evolving reporting standards like CSRD and Double Materiality Assessments.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Adept with Microsoft Office (Excel skills/proficiency in complex spreadsheets highly valued).
- Familiarity with ESG data platforms and system integration considered an advantage.
- Dance to Deadlines: Ability to thrive under pressure and align agile deliverables with shifting compliance demands.
