Join our dynamic Controls Project Engineering team as a Principal Controls Applications Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in delivering advanced control system solutions for gas turbine modification and upgrade projects in the UK. You will design and engineer complex control systems, ensuring that both hardware and software specifications meet project requirements. Engage in end-to-end project execution, from installation to commissioning, while leading technical activities and mentoring junior professionals. Your expertise will not only drive project success but also contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering processes, making a significant impact on our mission to innovate in the energy sector.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- You will design, develop, and engineer sophisticated control system solutions tailored for gas turbine modification and upgrade projects.
- Create and interpret essential technical documentation, including P&IDs, electrical schematics, and system architecture diagrams.
- Manage the technical execution of control system projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and schedule constraints.
- Lead on-site activities such as installation supervision and system testing, ensuring a smooth project handover.
- Act as a technical authority, providing guidance and coaching to junior engineers while interfacing with project managers and stakeholders to define technical requirements.

What You Bring
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience (5-8 years) in control and instrumentation engineering, with a proven track record in complex project execution.
- Advanced knowledge of control systems engineering, including PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly desirable, along with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification as an asset.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with proficiency in AutoCAD and a commitment to quality assurance.
