12 MONTHS CONTRACT | HYBRID WORKING Hampshire £400/DAY OUTSIDE IR35
A leading engineering organisation is seeking a Principal C++/Qt Software Engineer to contribute to a long-term programme focused on developing advanced software solutions for Embedded Linux platforms. The role specialises in delivering high-performance systems for complex, safety-critical environments across defence, aerospace, and industrial technology.
This is an exceptional opportunity to take a key role in the design, delivery, and mentorship of complex software systems while influencing technical direction within an Agile/SAFe framework.

- Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software using modern C++ and Qt, specifically tailored for Embedded Linux platforms
- Provide technical leadership through architecture review, code review, mentoring, and engineering best practices implementation
- Collaborate with Product Managers and multidisciplinary teams to support:
- Backlog refinement
- Agile estimation
- Agile/SAFe-driven delivery processes
Essential Requirements
- 10+ years of commercial experience in:
- Software testing design, execution, and automation in modern C++ and Qt
- Development and maintenance of systems on Embedded Linux environments
- Extensive hands-on experience writing automated test scripts in Python
- Strong expertise with either:
- Squish test automation framework, or
- Equivalent GUI test automation frameworks
- Deep familiarity with:
- Agile/SAFe methodologies
- CI/CD pipelines
- Modern software engineering practices
