Role Overview

Tech-for-good business seeking a Principal Data Engineer to contribute to a major industry player’s transition to GCP and the development of a modern, scalable Data Mesh architecture.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the business’ data platform and engineering capabilities, delivering scalable, domain-driven data ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across data product teams
  • Define architecture, engineering standards, and best practices
  • Ensure the data platform remains scalable, secure, and high-performing
  • Design, evolve, and support Data Mesh platform development
  • Oversee data ingestion, transformation, governance, quality, monitoring, and cost optimisation across GCP

Location & Salary

  • Hybrid role (1 day per week in office) across locations in the North of England
  • £90,000-£100,000 per annum
  • 35 days holiday + 7% company pension

  • GCP specialisms, including:
    • BigQuery, Dataflow, Data Fusion, Datastream, Cloud Functions, Dataproc, Airflow/Composer
  • SQL and Python
  • Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and large-scale data processing platforms
  • Data Mesh principles and domain-driven design methods
