Developer interactions and conversations
Developer interactions and conversations have changed. They have shifted away from owned web properties and in-person events toward just-in-time learning via generative AI and engagement with online communities via social channels. Developer advocates will build an advocacy strategy that works with this new context to support awareness and adoption of 1Password's developer tools, through technical depth, authenticity, and by advocating for users and their needs wherever they are.
The Principal Developer Advocate
The Principal Developer Advocate is an individual contributor who will report to the Director of Developer Relations. You will shape 1Password's advocacy function for a new era of developer learning. You will foster and participate in direct, public conversations about AI security, publish authoritative content, and prioritize high-impact channels that drive product awareness, adoption and feedback at scale. You will be the face of 1Password Developer Relations at major, high-impact developer conferences: AWS re:Invent, KubeCon, and others, and leverage those in-person interactions for longer term impact.
How We’re Using AI Today
Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada, the US, and the UK.
What We're Looking For
- Technical Fluency: 10+ years in technical roles including software or platform engineering, developer advocacy, solution engineering, or other fields. You are deeply familiar with modern development workflows and patterns.
- Advocacy Experience: 5+ years experience engaging with developers in visible, public facing roles, and advocating for their needs cross-functionally within your organization.
- Community Leadership: Experience engaging in sensitive and complex community situations with humility, empathy, judgment, tact, and humor.
- Partner Engagement: Experience collaborating with partners on technical and product marketing integrations and other partnership activities.
- Communication: Exceptional skills at written and verbal communication. You communicate well in multiple formats including conference talks, blog posts, tutorials, books, videos, social media, and through technical assets including demo code or reference architectures. You are good at talking and listening.
- Connection: You are a trusted and credible voice in the industry and have a large technical audience who use your perspective to shape their real-world technical and architectural choices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
