About the Role
At Berrys, we are an multi-disciplinary team delivering planning, architecture, building surveying, valuation and business consultancy from four offices across the Midlands.
This role is part of a strategic requirement to create growth within the Hereford office. Successful candidates will be experienced in driving growth, establishing business presence and building professional networks within the Planning, Architecture and Building Surveying sectors.
As part of a highly autonomous, yet multidisciplinary team, you’ll shape technical expertise, team development, and commercial growth—keeping people and projects at the forefront of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Requirements
- Be the internal figurehead of Berrys’ planning and development offer in the Hereford office and the go-to for technical consultancy expertise.
- Deliver planning consultancy services across multiple sectors (general advice, strategic planning, post-planning negotiations and appeals).
- Demonstrate full project oversight from planning submission through to construction-stage services (technical design, procurement, and beyond).
- Coordinate internal and external teams – composing the best delivery personnel, managing risks, and adhering to project timelines.
- Provide operational support to colleagues, fostering cross-category service collaboration (e.g., cross-selling Land Promotion, Agency and Valuation).
- Shape team processes to ensure efficiency, profitability, and productivity.

Strategic Requirements
- Quickly seamlessly integrate into a scaleable business model, understanding how each service complements the client offering.
- Grow Berrys’ Hereford development portfolio by completing business development, marketing, and brand awareness initiatives.
- Expand Berrys’ hereford network—building relationships with developers, landowners, lenders, promoters and agents to increase demand.
- Ensure service diversification—expanding into new markets and new business segments to strengthen Berrys’ future prospects.
- Identify opportunities and mitigate risks, ensuring wide business alignment on strategy.
Person Specification
Criteria for the role include:
- Proven people management & team-building experience.
- Strong technical strategy & vision-setting abilities.
- Resilient decision-making, problem-solving and adaptability.
- Strategic thinker with an ability to prioritise detail.
- Drive for innovation & continuous improvement.
- Hold (or be eligible for) formal qualifications – MRTPI or equivalent valuable.
- Full British driving licence required for travelling between sites/client meetings—open to flexible working Monday-Friday.
