Principal Digital Design Engineer - SERDES Networking Solutions (SNS), NXP
About The Role
Within NXP Semiconductors N.V.'s SERDES Networking Solutions (SNS) team, we are seeking a Principal Digital Design Engineer to lead the development of transceivers for in-vehicle networking (IVN), covering data rates from 2Gb/s to 16Gbps. These transceivers utilise advanced analog and digital design to provide video, audio, control, and Ethernet connectivity within modern vehicles.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers in the design, implementation, and support of in-vehicle networking devices (NXP’s Automotive product line)
- Oversee the day-to-day performance of junior engineering team members, ensuring alignment with project goals
- Define block-level requirements and architecture, optimising for area, power, and timing, while incorporating functional safety requirements
- Collaborate with verification and validation teams to ensure compliance with automotive design processes
- Develop robust design documentation to convey design intent effectively to the team
- Implement designs in either SystemVerilog or Chisel
- Work closely with Architecture, digital, and analog design teams, as well as verification and validation teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products

Your Profile
Skills & Experience
- A B.S./M.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent)
- Prior experience as a chip lead, architect, or subsystem lead in digital design teams, capable of meeting rigorous design parameters
- A proven track record of successful tape-outs, covering the entire chip design lifecycle within industrial settings
- Extensive experience in silicon design, including:
- Synthesis and static timing closure
- DFT (Design for Test)
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog or VHDL, along with familiarity of object-oriented software programming
- Desired expertise in:
- Ethernet networking
- Automotive design processes
- Embedded ARM or RISC-V processors
- Chisel
- Hands-on experience in debugging and silicon bring-up
