Principal EC&I Engineer

Location: Birchwood Park, Warrington
Arrangement: Permanent or Contract
Work arrangement: Hybrid, 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Project Description
Thorp Receipt & Storage (TR&S) Cooling System Replacement Project requires a Lead Engineer to provide Leadership and technical support to several packages of work, including stakeholder and sub-contract management, ensuring efficient delivery and performance against expected costs and schedules.
The TR&S Control System Replacement Project will provide a suitable and sufficient pond cooling system to maintain the fuel and civil structure within safety case limits taking into account the legionella requirements and resilience expectations.
Role Description
- Produce estimates for all applicable stages of the Sellafield Gated Process.
- Leading design delivery with small internal teams and managing the same with respect to external contracts.
- Checking design drawings and documentation at all applicable stages of the Sellafield Gated Process, in accordance with the SL Checking and Approvals Process.
- Performing plant configuration walkdowns to confirm and accurately record the plant baseline, in support of onward design and assurance.
- Determining Engineering Requirements and provide underpinning for the Validation and Verification.
- Professionally representing the project team within the supply chain, including attendance at factory or customer acceptance tests, as delegated by the Responsible Engineer.
- Engaging other disciplines and stakeholders at key lifecycle points, including an awareness of basic project management fundamentals.
- Providing clear, confident presentation of relevant deliverables to all stakeholders attending Single and Multidiscipline design reviews, as required by the integrated assurance plan.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Recent experience of leading design delivery through various project stages.
- Demonstrable understanding of the legislative and regulatory environment in which Sellafield operates, including those covering safety, design, and operation of plant; including Nuclear Installations Act, Site Licence Conditions, HASAWA, EWR, CDM, LOLER, PED, IRR.
- Experience of delivering CE&I design package - Translating user requirements and technical specification into fully engineered, safe and legal design solution.
- Qualification shall be in a related engineering discipline (Electrical & Electronic / Controls & Instruments).
