About the Role
Our Regulated Water Asset Design team supports the municipal water sector in the UK and internationally. With long-term framework agreements with major water companies such as Severn Trent Water and Southwest Water, as well as partnerships with leading contractors including Costain and Galliford Try, we deliver full-range design services across:
- Wastewater treatment
- Water treatment
- Sewerage
- Water network schemes

An Opportunity to Support UK Water Industry Development
Due to increased demand, we are recruiting Senior and Principal EICA Engineers to support the AMP8 water industry capital investment program.
Key Responsibilities
As an integral member of the Water Engineering Team, you’ll:
- Design and deliver technical solutions for water infrastructure projects, often working independently while collaborating in a team.
- Produce and/or review detailed EICA engineering deliverables across:
- Tenders
- Concept design
- Detailed design phase
- Construction and commissioning support
- EICA deliverables may include: Technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, control philosophies, user requirement specifications, and network architecture drawings.
- Review and execute tender evaluations.
- Participate in proposal development, work scoping, task identification, and resourcing/time estimations.
- Ensure compliance with installation requirements under DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) for EICA equipment in hazardous environments.
- Manage inspection, testing, setting to work, and commissioning stages relevant to ICA equipment and installations.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for panels, PLC/HMI applications, SCADA systems, and control software.
- Coach and mentor junior ICA discipline staff.

Requirements
We seek degree-qualified professionals with the following credentials and experience:
- Degree (IET-accredited) in Electrical or Control Engineering, or a minimum HND in Electrical/Control Engineering with extensive experience.
- Professional registration with the Engineering Council (Chartered or Incorporated Engineer).
- Detailed experience in EICA engineering design for water infrastructure, including:
- Preparing and reviewing technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, control philosophies, and user requirement documents (URS).
- Familiarity with network architecture drawings and explosive atmosphere equipment standards.
- Strong KPFA knowledge (dangerous substances in explosive atmospheres): DSEAR compliance and CDM regulations for project installations.
- Client-facing skills: Responsibility, collaboration, diplomacy, and adaptability—able to work with clients individually or within interdisciplinary WSP teams.
- Willingness to travel to sites for surveys, inspections, and commissioning, maintaining workplace safety standards.
- Practical understanding of relevant electrical safe systems of work.
