About the Role
We’re seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Operational Assets team in Manchester or Leeds.

This newly formed Operational Assets team merges property consultancy, design engineering and data-led building performance expertise to deliver a holistic, sustainable service across building lifecycles. Together, we guide clients from concept to operation, helping them reduce disruption, improve efficiency, and meet zero-carbon targets.

Key Responsibilities
In this dynamic role, you’ll:
- Lead new and existing client projects, growing the Operational Assets team while supporting the regional management.
- Focus on work delivery, organisational support, and team growth—driving engagement with both local and regional stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, guiding junior team members and cross-functional groups.
- Manage workloads collaboratively in daily team meetings and project reviews.
- Mentor, recruit, and develop team talent for long-term succession.
- Own and execute design, specification, and site monitoring tasks.
- Oversee commissioning, and conduct post-occupancy building performance reviews.
- Produce technical reports, including feasibility studies, condition surveys, and issue investigations.
- Engage with clients, landlords, and project management teams with commercial awareness.

You’ll support three primary service areas to drive impact:

Decarbonisation & Energy Efficiency
- Reduce energy consumption and net-zero roadmap implementation.
- Apply prudent and emerging technologies to enhance building performance.

Design & Sustainability
- Specialize in existing building transformations across all RIBA project stages.
- Craft innovative, sustainable design solutions for complex projects.

Property Consultancy Services
- Provide actionable insights throughout the property lifecycle:
- Technical due diligence reports (pre-acquisition/vendor assessments)
- Dilapidations surveys and Licence to Alter reviews
- Preventative maintenance plans and validations management
- Troubleshooting, energy audits, and EPC compliance support

Projects span domestic, commercial, healthcare, industrial, defence, and heritage clients.
Requirements
To excel in this role, your profile should include:
- Chartered engineers (or working towards) with sound personnel policy compliance.
- Strong background in existing building refurbishments and fit-out projects.
- Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal.
- Deep expertise in building data, metering, and performance analytics.
- Experience with specification, design, contract administration, and site management.
- Holistic Building Services knowledge with granular focus on electrical systems.
- Strong grasp of primary electrical services and awareness of secondary disciplines (e.g., M&E integration).
- Belief in region-specific UK and EU regulations, design codes, and sustainable practices.
- Superior organisational and project management skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to nurture client relationships.
- Proven ability in new business development and team mentorship.
