Principal Energy Consultant
Location: Flexible / Hybrid & UK-wide travel required
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Energy Consultant to join a growing Energy Services team within a leading independent energy consultancy. This client-facing role will focus on delivering Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) assessments, Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) compliance services, and wider carbon reporting and sustainability projects for organisations across a range of sectors.
The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of energy management, carbon accounting, and sustainability reporting, alongside the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to clients. You will lead ESOS assessments, conduct site audits, analyse energy data, prepare high-quality reports, and provide practical recommendations to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

Key Responsibilities
- Delivering ESOS audits
- Preparing SECR disclosures
- Calculating Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions using GHG Protocol methodologies
- Supporting clients with net-zero strategies
- Contributing to voluntary reporting frameworks
- Building strong client relationships
- Attending meetings and site visits across the UK
- Supporting business development activities
- Mentoring junior consultants within the team
Requirements
Applicants should have demonstrable experience delivering ESOS assessments and a strong understanding of SECR requirements, greenhouse gas reporting, and energy data analysis. Excellent report-writing skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and a willingness to travel are essential. ESOS Lead Assessor accreditation, chartered status (or progress towards it), and experience with ISO 50001 or Carbon Reduction Plans would be advantageous.
