Principal Engineer | Bracknell (Hybrid 2-3 days in office)
Vue or React on the frontend, C# /.NET on the backend, AWS in production, and agentic coding tools as part of how you build every day. If that is your stack, and you have anchored complex cross-team problems as a hands-on individual contributor in payments, FX, or another regulated environment, this could be a strong fit.
We are supporting a payments platform company that is rebuilding its core.
The Role
You will take the hardest problems on the rebuild, decide how they get solved, and stay in the code while you do it. You will keep the standards straight across squads, pick up the parts of the migration off the legacy services that need real judgment, and lift the engineers around you through design review and mentoring. No direct reports. Your influence comes from the quality of your technical calls, not a reporting line.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
