We’re seeking a senior technical leader with strong project leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration, and industry influence to secure this impactful opportunity.
About the Role
As a Principal Engineer, you will:
- Lead and deliver high-impact energy generation and conversion projects, including:
- Conventional thermal power
- Next-generation renewable systems
- Bioenergy solutions
- Drive design, performance modelling, and feasibility analysis of energy systems, from power generation to storage
- Provide technical leadership in major project deliverables, including:
- Mentoring junior engineers
- Interfacing with clients at senior levels
- Apply expertise across:
- Power generation
- Energy storage
- Waste-to-energy (WtE)
- Hybrid system development
- Conduct and manage technical due diligence, including:
- Feasibility studies
- Process evaluations
- System integration reviews for utility-scale and industrial clients
- Collaborate on multi-disciplinary projects with:
- Process engineers
- Mechanical specialists
- Electrical and civil teams
- Support business development activities, such as:
- Proposal contributions
- Client presentations
- Technical strategy development

Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Lead technically complex projects from start to finish, ensuring high performance and adherence to industry standards.
- Client Engagement: Represent GHD in client meetings at senior levels, demonstrating deep technical insight.
- Team Mentorship: Train and develop junior engineers while maintaining professional growth and career advancement pathways.
- Strategic Contributions: Influence corporate thinking and commercial strategy through high-impact deliverables and expertise.
- Innovation: Contribute to the advancement of energy transition technologies in government, industry, and commercial sectors.
Key Skills & Criteria
We’re looking for a Princpal Engineer with:
- Experience: 10+ years in energy generation and conversion projects (e.g., power plants, renewables, WtE, CHP, hydrogen, biofuels).
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong foundation in thermodynamics, energy systems modelling, and process engineering.
- Proven experience with power plant performance tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, Ebsilon, Thermoflex).
- Leadership:
- Proven track record in project leadership with:
- Client engagement
- Multi-disciplinary coordination
- Proven track record in project leadership with:
- Qualifications:
- Chartered Engineer status (or in progress) with a relevant institution (e.g., IMechE, IChemE).
- Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Energy Engineering (or equivalent).
