About the Role
I’m working with a fast-growing tech business prioritising modern software engineering, AI adoption, and platform innovation. They are expanding their UK engineering team and are looking for a Principal Engineer to collaborate closely with the CTO and contribute significantly to the company’s technical vision as they scale.
This role is arms-length from desk-job management—ideal for hands-on engineering leaders who thrive on influencing architecture, mentoring, and driving high standards across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Define and champion technical strategy and architecture across multiple teams, ensuring alignment with business and product goals.
- Engineering Excellence: Enforce and evolve best practices in scalability, security, performance, and quality.
- Mentorship & Growth: Guide and support senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical ownership and improvement.
- AI Innovation: Explore and integrate AI tools and agentic systems (e.g., Copilot, LangChain) into engineering workflows and product development.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with CTO and leadership to set long-term technical direction and vision.
- Engineering Culture: Help create an environment that celebrates ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
