We have a passion for making a positive and tangible impact in all the communities of Hampshire every day and are looking for an experienced, practical and innovative individual to help manage the day-to-day operations of the Hampshire Highways – Petersfield office.
The Role:
Reporting to the Assistant Highway Manager you will have a sound understanding of highway maintenance operations and legislation to help lead, manage and develop a team of local highway engineers and technicians to deliver the highway maintenance and enforcement operations of a busy Highways office.
What you’ll do:
- Key to your role will be managing a team of frontline engineers dealing with highway issues.
- Communicate and liaise with a cross-section of individuals and groups including elected members, district councils, borough councils, parishes, and the public on a variety of highway-related issues/problems.
- Collaborate closely with our internal & external operations partners to provide a joined-up service for our customers and identify, develop, and implement service improvements.

- Demonstrate an understanding of highway maintenance practices.
- A positive approach to partnership working and problem-solving.
- Open to implementing change where required.
- Passionate about making a difference for local communities.
- Conscientious, enthusiastic, highly motivated, reliable, keen to learn, and a hard-working individual.
- Ability to manage and prioritize your workload to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with good IT skills.
