We have a passion for making a positive and tangible impact in all the communities of Hampshire every day and are looking for an experienced, practical and innovative individual to help manage the day-to-day operations of the Hampshire Highways – Petersfield office.
The Role:
Reporting to the Assistant Highway Manager you will have a sound understanding of highway maintenance operations and legislation to help lead, manage and develop a team of local highway engineers and technicians to deliver the highway maintenance and enforcement operations of a busy Highways office.
What you’ll do:
- Key to your role will be managing a team of front-line engineers dealing with highway issues.
- You will be able to communicate and liaise with a cross section of individuals and groups including elected members, district councils, borough councils, parishes and the public on a variety of highway-related issues/problems.
- You will also be required to collaborate closely with our internal & external operations partners to provide a joined-up service for our customers and identify, develop and implement service improvements.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate an understanding of highway maintenance practices, a positive approach to partnership working and problem solving, be open to implementing change where required and be passionate about making a difference for local communities.
What we’re looking for:
- You will be a conscientious, enthusiastic and highly motivated person who is reliable, keen to learn and a hard-working individual.
- You will have the ability to manage and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with good IT skills.
