Principal Engineer
About the Company
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer to join a market-leading FinTech organisation building highly scalable analytics and optimisation platforms used by some of the world's largest financial institutions.
About the Role
This is a senior technical leadership role focused on shaping platform architecture, driving engineering standards, and guiding the evolution of a complex cloud-native product. We are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer who enjoys:
- Influencing technical direction
- Solving complex engineering challenges
- Working closely with both technical and business stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Own and govern architecture across multiple engineering teams
- Define technical standards and review solution designs
- Drive architectural consistency across a large-scale platform
- Guide teams through complex design decisions and critical implementations
- Influence technical strategy and long-term platform evolution
- Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across technology and the business
- Identify and address:
- Technical debt
- Platform risk
- Cross-team dependencies
- Ensure scalability, resilience, security, and performance are embedded into solutions
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads
- Contribute to architectural governance and engineering best practices

Qualifications
- Proven experience as a:
- Principal Engineer
- Lead Architect
- Technical Architect
- Or equivalent senior technical leadership role
- Strong expertise in:
- Designing and governing architecture across distributed, cloud-based platforms
- Demonstrated track record of:
- Influencing technical strategy across multiple engineering teams
- Profound understanding of:
- Modern software architecture
- Scalability
- Resilience
- Platform design
- Experience within complex data-intensive or analytical technology environments
- Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong background in cloud systems (AWS or equivalent)
- Hands-on software engineering experience with modern development practices
