What’s The Role
As Principal Enterprise Architect for Global Lubricants, Customer Operations, Low Carbon Solutions and CRM, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital backbone of Shell’s Downstream Customer & Renewables business. This is a senior leadership position within the Downstream & Renewables Architecture Leadership Team, where you will define and drive enterprise-wide architecture strategy across multiple critical domains. You’ll ensure our technology landscape is integrated, scalable and future-ready - enabling business growth, enhancing customer experience, and accelerating the energy transition.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Shape strategy and set direction Define long-term enterprise architecture strategies aligned to Shell’s overall business and technology vision, helping steer the direction of major transformation initiatives.
- Own the architecture for key business domains Lead architecture across Global Lubricants, Customer Operations, Low Carbon Solutions and CRM, identifying opportunities to evolve, simplify and modernise the IT landscape.
- Define and deliver target architectures and roadmaps Establish multi-year target states and architecture roadmaps, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and long-term business outcomes.
- Drive high-quality design and engineering alignment Lead architecture design using Shell principles, promoting reuse, composability and adherence to global standards across platforms and solutions.
- Ensure strong data, integration and platform architecture Champion robust data models, integration patterns and platform strategies aligned with enterprise governance and best practices.
- Provide leadership across architecture communities Lead and develop a team of Lead Architects, influencing broader solution architecture teams and building strong architectural capability across the organisation.
- Tackle complex, high-impact challenges Diagnose and resolve complex, cross-domain problems, applying industry-leading practices and innovative approaches to simplify and enhance the IT landscape.
- Influence senior stakeholders and governance decisions Partner with senior business and technology leaders to shape demand, guide investment decisions and represent architecture in key governance forums.
- Provide oversight on major programmes Guide programme and project architecture to ensure alignment with enterprise direction, quality standards and long-term strategic goals.

What You Bring
- Proven enterprise architecture leadership Deep experience working across multiple business domains, shaping and delivering enterprise architecture at scale.
- Strong technology depth in CRM and digital platforms Hands-on knowledge of platforms such as Salesforce and/or Dynamics, alongside expertise in integration, data architecture and cloud technologies.
- Business domain understanding Experience across areas such as customer operations, commercial platforms, or energy/value chains (e.g. lubricants or low carbon solutions) is highly desirable.
- Strategic influence and stakeholder engagement A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and operating effectively in complex, multi-portfolio environments.
- Exceptional problem solving and leadership capability Strong strategic thinking, the ability to navigate ambiguity and a reputation for delivering high-impact outcomes.
- People leadership and capability building A passion for coaching and developing architecture talent, acting as a role model for architecture excellence.
