A little background on our Maritime Team:

You’ll be part of the Geotechnical Team led by our Associate Director. The Geotechnical team is part of the Maritime UK Advisory Group, in 5 of our UK offices. The Geotechnical Team works with all the other business lines, however, primarily works in the Maritime Sector.

Our Maritime team are at the forefront of innovative maritime planning, design, and development. We are multi-disciplinary experts that work on international projects to create successful ports and maritime infrastructure worldwide. We have provided expert commercial, technical and operational advice and created master plans across the five continents for a wide range of port projects.

The role:

As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll be immersed in a variety of responsibilities.

Technical Undertake geotechnical design and study work on projects. Write reports, specifications, and prepare drawings. Operate and maintain geotechnical modeling software. Assist with site investigation program design and supervision. Ensure compliant delivery of services internally and externally. Identify and solve geotechnical challenges. Check own work and work of others according to quality management standards. Leadership & Management Work with geotechnical team to optimise resource use and ensure integrated approach to studies. Lead project teams on consulting assignments, including project management, budgeting, and quality control. Manage geotechnical projects involving various engineering disciplines and investigations. Mentor and train staff as needed. Organize and direct junior staff or technicians. Collaborate with specialists from other disciplines and RHDHV offices to build relationships within the company. Align project work with client needs. Develop and enhance technical capabilities of the geotechnical team. Contribute to strategic planning and business development of the geotechnical department. Networking Liaise with clients internally and externally to provide geotechnical support and advice. This includes responding to and writing expressions of interest, proposals, and other bids. Build and maintain client relationships with new and key clients to develop new business opportunities. Promote the company's work through technical publications, conference participation, and presentations. We require an enthusiastic, optimistic, conscientious, and talented person with good communication skills and technical ability. The candidate must be able to work in a team and, at times, independently. The role will require close working with members of the various similar teams across the UK as well as with staff across other Business Lines. They must contribute proactively to ensure consulting services are consistently delivered to the highest standards, meeting and exceeding clients’ needs.

MSc in Civil Engineering with a specialism in geotechnical engineering Practical geotechnical design experience Preparation and supervision of ground investigations Proficient in geotechnical design software (such as Openground, Plaxis etc) In-depth knowledge of the sector Experience of geotechnical consultancy
