Our client, a well-established and highly respected ground investigation and geotechnical consultancy, is looking to appoint a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their team based in West Sussex.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist looking to take on a senior technical and supervisory role within a growing consultancy delivering projects across the residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in a wide range of projects from small-scale developments through to major multi-million-pound schemes. The role will combine technical delivery, project management and mentoring responsibilities, providing support and guidance to junior staff whilst overseeing your own portfolio of work.

Key Responsibilities
- Designing, managing and delivering ground investigation projects.
- Assessing project feasibility and preparing cost estimates.
- Managing project budgets and maintaining client relationships.
- Undertaking Phase I Desk Studies and site walkovers.
- Managing and interpreting Phase II intrusive site investigations.
- Producing and reviewing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
- Providing technical advice on geotechnical engineering matters.
- Reviewing and approving technical reports prepared by junior engineers and geologists.
- Supporting the development and mentoring of less experienced team members.
Requirements
- Degree and ideally Master’s qualification in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within a geotechnical consultancy or site investigation environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of soil mechanics, geohazards, slope stability, earthworks and retaining structures.
- Proven experience managing geotechnical investigations and report production.
- Comfortable supervising projects and providing technical guidance to junior staff.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
