Principal Hydraulic Modeller
Location: Sheffield
Salary: GBP55,000 - GBP68,000
Ready to lead modelling strategy while building and mentoring a high-performing team? This Principal Hydraulic Modeller opportunity in Sheffield offers technical authority, influence, and long-term progression within a growing consultancy.
A specialist water consultancy delivering wastewater and integrated hydraulic modelling projects is strengthening its senior capability. As a Principal Hydraulic Modeller, you will develop, calibrate, and validate hydraulic models, support root cause analysis, and guide solution development across complex programmes.
Role Overview
The Principal Hydraulic Modeller will provide technical leadership, coach modellers, and ensure modelling outputs meet high quality and regulatory standards. This Principal Hydraulic Modeller role combines hands-on modelling with stakeholder engagement and commercial awareness. A minimum of three days per week will be office-based in Sheffield, with flexibility built around project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, calibrate, and verify hydraulic models
- Lead technical mentoring and internal training
- Support TOTEX and solution development strategies
- Manage stakeholders and communicate modelling risk
- Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualified with substantial modelling experience
- Strong expertise in InfoWorks ICM and associated tools
- Experience in river and wastewater modelling
- Confident using Excel including data interrogation
- Chartered or working towards Chartership desirable
