About the Role
Due to growth within our security engineering department, we are seeking a Principal Information Security Engineer to join the team. The role will report to the Senior Information Security Engineering Manager, providing technical leadership and oversight across our Information Security Engineering team.
This role is responsible for:
- Supporting the day-to-day technical execution by ensuring high-standard project delivery and efficient support activities per organisational SLAs
- Acting as the team’s primary technical lead and escalation point, driving efficiency, validating designs, and ensuring all engineering outputs align with the security strategy
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for the team, offering hands-on guidance and decision-making for complex technical challenges.
- Oversee day-to-day security engineering, ensuring business-as-usual (BAU) work is delivered to high standards and all SLAs are consistently met.
- Maintain the quality and consistency of engineering outputs—including project engagements, technical tasks, and documentation—to align with established security standards.
- Support the technical delivery of our security tooling roadmap, bridging high-level strategy and operational outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Information Security Architecture team to validate designs, ensuring robust, scalable, and enterprise-ready solutions.
- Partner with Information Security Operations to improve operational efficiency, enhance control integration, and drive quality improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, ensuring secure, automated, and effective solution delivery.

Required Technical Skills

Demonstrated experience implementing enterprise security platforms
-
Strong hands-on expertise with the Microsoft security stack

Proficiency in managing and securing diverse compute environments—Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile device platforms

Knowledge/understanding of:
- Firewalls and cloud security solutions
- Information Security domains: email/web gateways, Privileged Account Management (PAM), Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Endpoint protection

Aware of Information Security risk management tools and techniques, methodologies, and key frameworks

Cloud security experience and certifications highly advantageous

Experience with automation and scripting highly desirable
Core Competencies & Requirements
Experience & Certifications
- 5+ years’ experience in an Information Security role, preferably in financial services, e-commerce, or regulated sectors
- Attained or working towards CISSP certification
Skills & Attributes
- Strong expertise in recognised Information Security frameworks (e.g., ISO27001, NIST)
- Deep confidence in core IT/networking concepts
- Proactive ownership of tasks with attention to detail and follow-through closure.
- Ability to challenge designs/strategies to ensure Information Security remains robust.
- Self-starting, flexible, and capable of thriving in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Exceptional planning and task-completion sophistication (self-directed).
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and allocate resources at scale.
