We operate a hybrid working policy, with people working from the office two days a week and the rest working from home. People may choose to come in more often.

As a Principal with Tetra Tech International Development, you will work closely with the Practice Director and fellow Principals to lead high-value programmes, oversee multidisciplinary teams, and play a pivotal role in expanding our portfolio through strategic business development.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the successful delivery of large, complex development programmes, ensuring high standards of quality, timely delivery, budget control, and excellent client service.
  • Drive strategic business growth by identifying and pursuing new opportunities, leading end-to-end tender processes and proposal development, and managing partner relationships.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to multidisciplinary in-house and in-country teams, fostering excellence, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Act as a trusted technical resource and thought leader, advising clients and internal teams on inclusive economic growth, investment facilitation, economic reform, business environment reform, and related areas.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, consultants, and internal stakeholders to support programme success and business expansion.
  • Work closely with fellow Principals and the Practice Director to shape and deliver practice-level strategy, supporting wider business growth and operational excellence.
  • Oversee financial and commercial management of programmes, including reporting, forecasting, and risk mitigation.
  • Represent Tetra Tech at external events and forums, strengthening our reputation and thought leadership.
  • Travel internationally to programme locations and Tetra Tech offices as required.

Who You Are

  • An experienced international development professional with a strong track record of leading complex programmes in inclusive economic growth, investment facilitation, economic reform, business environment reform, and/or related areas. Experience with FCDO-funded programmes is highly desirable.
  • Proactive and entrepreneurial, with a strong business development mindset and proven success in pipeline growth, pursuit strategy, proposal writing, and securing major contracts, particularly with FCDO and/or similar donors.
  • Technically credible, with a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing inclusive economic growth and investment in developing country contexts.
  • Demonstrable on-the-ground experience in developing countries, with direct exposure to programme delivery, stakeholder engagement, and operational realities across a range of emerging market contexts.
  • Well connected, with strong professional networks among clients, partners, and thematic experts aligned to our geographic and sectoral focus.
  • A confident leader and people manager, skilled in mentoring and managing multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams.
  • Commercially astute, with a strong grasp of financial management at both programme and corporate level.
  • An outstanding communicator in English, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and global teams. Additional languages are an advantage. Willing and able to travel internationally as required, including to fragile and conflict-affected contexts.

Qualifications

A university degree/s in international development, international business, economics, finance, or a related discipline.
