Principal Investment Officer, Project and Corporate Finance Clients Department (PCF) – Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)

The Project and Corporate Finance Clients Department (PCF) focuses on expanding AIIB’s private-sector relationships among global infrastructure clients and sponsors at senior and shareholder levels. The department specialises in the origination and execution of nonsovereign-backed financing (NSBF) transactions, driving growth in AIIB’s infrastructure investment portfolio. The role of Principal Investment Officer, PCF involves leadership over business lines, project origination, and strategic positioning as the bank’s "go-to" institution for private-sector infrastructure finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Lead one or more department business lines to achieve target goals and expanding AIIB’s NSBF portfolio.
- Originate and execute investment projects across sectors, geographies, and client types.

Project Origination & Execution:
- Identify, assess, and structure high-potential investment opportunities, maintaining a pipeline of feasible projects.
- Work with legal, technical, and safeguard specialists to conduct due diligence for investment committees.

Client & Internal Engagement:
- Conduct clients and project research, preparing presentations, memo reports, and briefings for leadership approval.
- Facilitate and lead client meetings, ensuring strong engagement and proposal refinement.

Stakeholder Management & Compliance:
- Collaborate with internal units to coordinate project execution and ensure AIIB policies and strategies are followed.
- Oversee the project approval process, aligning investments with AIIB’s sustainability and strategic goals.

Collaborative & Adaptive Work:
- Act as a team player, supporting colleagues and management to meet departmental and Bank objectives.
- Execute ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the department or PCF management.
Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- Minimum 15 years in infrastructure finance, with experience in top-tier commercial, investment, or multilateral development banks.
- Specialisation in structuring comprehensive financing solutions using debt (including project finance), mezzanine, guarantees, and hybrid products.
- Strong background in global project finance markets, with preference for developing economies experience.

Education & Proficiency
- Master’s degree or equivalent in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
Key Skills
- Advanced analytical, credit, and financial modeling abilities.
- Excellent oral and written English communication, supplemented by fluency in a language relevant to AIIB’s investment regions (advantage).
