About the Opportunity
We are exclusively partnering with a leading, top-tier Mechanical & Electrical (MEP) contractor to find a highly capable Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer.
With a headquarters in London and a growing footprint across the UK and Europe, this ambitious business delivers highly complex, technical engineering solutions. They specialize in managing major projects ranging from £1m to over £100m in value across high-growth sectors, including Data Centres, Commercial Shell & Core, High-End Fit-Out, Life Sciences, and Major Infrastructure.
If you are an innovative engineer looking to push the boundaries of design and delivery on landmark mega-projects, this is an exceptional opportunity to join a forward-thinking business that heavily invests in its people and sustainable engineering.
Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will take technical ownership of the mechanical systems across a portfolio of high-profile, multi-million-pound developments. You will bridge the gap between design and installation, ensuring complex systems are practically delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Lead the technical design, review, and validation of mechanical systems, including complex HVAC, chilled water, LTHW/MTHW, ventilation, and large-scale central plant rooms.
- Project Delivery: Take ownership of the mechanical discipline from the pre-construction phase through to installation, commissioning, and handover on major projects (often £50m+ MEP value).
- Coordination & Integration: Work closely with in-house electrical and public health teams, BIM coordinators, and external consultants to ensure seamless, clash-free system integration.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Act as the technical authority for mechanical engineering in client meetings, successfully managing relationships with main contractors, developers, and consulting engineers.
- Sustainability & Compliance: Drive sustainable engineering practices, ensuring all designs comply with the latest British Standards, building regulations, and environmental certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED).
- Mentorship: Provide guidance, technical support, and mentorship to intermediate and junior mechanical engineers within the technical department.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
