Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take the lead on complex, cutting-edge engineering projects? We’re supporting a pioneering engineering organisation developing next-generation turbomachinery and high-temperature process systems that are redefining industrial performance.
They are now seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead major design workstreams and influence the mechanical architecture of state-of-the-art machinery.
The Opportunity
In this senior position, you’ll own the mechanical design of advanced rotating equipment and high-temperature static structures. You’ll define design requirements, drive design standards, and help shape engineering processes for a new era of industrial machinery.
This role offers genuine technical challenge, autonomy, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the future of high-performance engineering.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
