About the Role

Principal Media, EMEA (Fixed-Term Secondment, 12 months)

BHP is seeking an experienced media leader to join our Global Corporate Affairs team on a 12-month fixed-term (secondment) contract.

Core Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Global Media, this role leads media strategy and engagement across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. You’ll strengthen BHP’s regional reputation while contributing to global media strategy and high-profile business priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead EMEA media strategy and engagement
  • Strengthen BHP’s reputation and visibility across key markets
  • Advise senior leaders on media and communications strategy
  • Support global alignment and cross-regional media initiatives
  • Deliver issues and crisis communications support

Key Requirements / About You

  • Extensive experience in media relations / corporate communications
  • Strong knowledge of EMEA media environments and stakeholders
  • Proven track record in global, matrixed organisations
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to navigate complex high-profile communications challenges
