Principal Medical Writer – Learning & Development
📍 Remote (UK-based) | Occasional meet-ups in London or Salisbury, plus client meetings as required

We’re seeking a Principal Medical Writer to join our experienced Learning & Development team, specialising in creating engaging, scientific training materials for healthcare professionals and pharma teams. If you thrive on distilling complex medical science into clear, interactive, and impactful content, this is the role for you!
About the Role
As the Principal Medical Writer, you will lead our training materials practice, collaborating with expert subject matter specialists to develop eLearning modules, workshops, infographics, and video scripts.
Your expertise will ensure content aligns with learning theory, regulatory standards, and industry trends—all while supporting the team with mentorship and strategic guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Leadership
- Craft and champion engaging, factually accurate, and learner-friendly materials E.g., eLearning courses, instructor-led workshops, visuals, and video scripts
- Lead client discussions, proposal development, and project strategy with strategic input
- Oversee quality and accuracy through detailed reference checking and collaborative reviews
- Line manage writers, offering mentorship, guidance, and career development
Collaboration & External Relations
- Review and provide constructive feedback to junior writers, improving consistency and excellence
- Act as the client-facing point of contact, driving decision-making for project success
- Represent Precision Medical HQ at client meetings (including occasional on-site gatherings)

What You’ll Bring
Experience & Skills
- 6–8 years in medical communications within a global agency (healthtech, pharma marketing, or regulatory domains strongly preferred)
- Proven track record of simplifying scientific concepts for healthcare professionals, trainers, or commercial teams
- Sharp analytical eye for content – expert at spotting inaccuracies, biases, or clumsy phrasing
- Proactive collaborator with an understanding of multidisciplinary teams (SMEs, designers, module developers etc.)
- Line management experience – capable of balancing mentorship with hands-on writing
- Technical knowledge base: Therapeutic areas (e.g. oncology, CNS, cardiology assessed as a plus), familiarity with MDR, blockchain, healthcare AI, or global registries

- Passionate about learning theory and engagement – always looking for ways to improve educational outcomes
- Ethical, determined, and accountable, with an up-to-date knowledge of science and communications regulations (AMWA, ISB is Knowledge of research integrity)
