Stirling Dynamics is looking for a Principal Modelling and Simulation Engineer to join our Simulation and Control capability. This is an opportunity to take on a leading technical role, shape how work is delivered, and help develop the next generation of engineers.

Responsibilities
This role combines technical excellence with leadership and mentorship. Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of systems and vehicle-level models, including plant and control algorithms.
- Defining modelling approaches, verification strategies, and requirements.
- Owning the delivery of work packages or technical activities.
- Presenting technical outputs and findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers to build capability.
- Creating clarity, structure, and motivation within the team.
- Contributing to planning, task management, and prioritisation.
- Ensuring teams stay aligned, engaged, and deadline-focused.
Qualifications
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent), in a related discipline—preferably in:
- Aerospace Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mathematics
- Demonstrated expertise in modelling principles for dynamic systems.
Essential Skills
Core Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Matlab/Simulink-based modelling and simulation.
- Hands-on experience with system-based engineering models and complex dynamic systems.
- In-depth understanding of:
- Control systems
- System performance modelling
- Vehicle dynamics
- Multi-domain simulation
- Collborative engineering experience, including version control and task management.

Experience
Preferred:
- Expertise in advanced control techniques (e.g., Kalman filtering, state estimation).
- Real-time matlab AutoCoding or C/C++ code generation.
- Background in sectors like aerospace, marine, robotics, or automotive engineering.
- Proven track record in applying modelling/simulation to complex engineering challenges.

Due to project restrictions, only UK nationals can be considered.

Compensation – Grade 4–7
- £45,000–£72,500 (depending on experience).
