This is an exciting opportunity with AECOM’s Nuclear Project Controls Team, delivering complex, safety-critical programmes across the energy and defence sectors. As a Principal Nuclear Project Planner, you will drive team excellence on key projects including:
- Nuclear new build
- Decommissioning
- Critical infrastructure projects
You’ll shape programme and regulatory standards, optimise performance, and integrate advanced digital planning tools, such as Primavera P6.
With continued growth across our nuclear portfolio, we’re seeking ambitious professionals to support high-profile projects while strengthening our team’s capabilities.
What You’ll Do
As a Principal Nuclear Project Planner, your role will include:
Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain fully logic-linked, resource-loaded schedules in Primavera P6
- Create integrated Level 1–4 schedules, aligned with programme controls standards
- Establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and coding structures aligned to client reporting requirements
- Develop and manage baseline schedules, including change control processes
- Conduct schedule risk analysis and support quantitative risk assessments
- Perform critical path analysis and conduct scenario modelling

Programme Controls
- Interface with cost management teams to ensure schedule and cost alignment
- Support Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting
- Produce weekly and monthly progress reports and dashboards
- Analyze schedule performance metrics such as SPI, float trends
- Support forensic schedule analyses and issues requiring specialist scrutiny
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
- Participate in client planning workshops and schedule reviews
- Provide planning assurance in line with nuclear regulatory expectations
- Support bids and tender submissions, developing programme methodologies and narratives
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure schedules adheres to NEC contract requirements and regulatory needs
- Maintain standards for nuclear quality and safety culture
- Support internal assurance and quality assurance processes

Requirements
Essential:
- Extensive experience using Primavera P6 in a highly regulated, complex environment
- Proven expertise in developing and maintaining fully logic-linked schedules
- Critical path analysis and scenario modeling capability
- Experience in schedule assurance, change control, and Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Knowledge of cost and risk integration in scheduling tools
- Understand how schedules support NEC and regulatory frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration abilities
Desirable:
- Experience working on UK nuclear programmes
- Professional membership or equivalent (e.g., APM, PMI)
- Understanding of BIM and digital integration principles
