Principal Officer – EV Infrastructure

Fixed Term, Full Time (36 months, 37 hours per week)

Salary £44,075 – £49,282 per annum

Location County Hall, West Bridgford, NG2 7QP Working Arrangements Hybrid


About the Role

Are you passionate about electric vehicles (EVs) and sustainable infrastructure? As the Principal Officer for EV Infrastructure, you will lead the planning, delivery, and development of a groundbreaking EV charging infrastructure programme across Nottinghamshire.

This vital role offers the opportunity to collaborating with local authorities, government bodies, network operators, and private sector partners, shaping EV policy, securing funding, and driving sustainable transport solutions in our county.


Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and development of Nottinghamshire’s EV charging infrastructure programme.
  • Define strategic vision and ensure alignment with national and local policies.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with local authorities, government agencies, utility companies, and private partners to achieve programme objectives.
  • Represent the council at public events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.

Policy & Funding

  • Contribute to EV policy formulation and work with cross-departmental teams to secure grants and funding opportunities.

Contract & Procurement Management

  • Oversee contracts, procurement, and compliance while ensuring smooth integration with existing council services.
  • Monitor budgets, project performance, and financial reporting to senior management.

Promotion & Community Engagement

  • Raise awareness of EV benefits and infrastructure to encourage adoption among residents and businesses.
  • Ensure negative impacts on vulnerable groups are minimised through inclusive programme design.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, environmental science, project management, law, or policy studies).
  • Proven project management skills, ideally with formal qualifications such as PRINCE2 or Agile.
  • Experience in managing complex projects within public services, including budgetary and operational responsibility.
  • Familiarity with local government structures and regulatory frameworks.
  • Hygiene officer training and legal power of authorisation (where applicable).

Technical Proficiencies

  • Knowledge of electric vehicle infrastructure standards and best practices.
  • Experience with data analytics and policy monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and grid integration considerations.

  • This is a Fixed Term Position (36 months) based at County Hall, West Bridgford, NG2 7QP.
