We have an exciting opening for a Principal or Associate Engineer to join our firm in our Glasgow, Bristol, Manchester or London offices.

Hoare Lea’s Fire Engineering Group is a leading team of experienced fire safety experts, many of whom hold Chartered Engineer status through the Institution of Fire Engineers.

The Role
Hoare Lea’s Fire Engineering team designs fire safety for buildings, operating as embedded consultants within a multidisciplinary team while managing external long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate fire safety designs, closely collaborating with interdisciplinary stakeholders
- Ensure understanding of UK building regulations and design standards
- Align design needs with client briefs, governmental compliance and team inputs (e.g., structural, services engineers)
- Host internal and external meetings while maintaining effective project communication
- Proactively attend design team and site meetings based on project needs
- Travel across the UK and abroad as required for projects
- Operate fire models (including evacuation, smoke and structural fire modelling)

Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience within fire engineering consultancy roles
- Degree level qualifications or recognised equivalency in:
- Engineering
- Building Services
- Maths
- Architecture
- Physics
- Strong passion for fire safety design
- Proficiency in fire modelling and analysis tools
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Skills and Attributes
- Commitment to delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- Willingness to develop professionally towards Chartered Engineer status
