Remote/Hybrid Working with 2 days in Preston, Lancashire Fully home-working contracts considered for candidates living 50+ miles from Preston offices £33,000 - £40,000 + benefits (DoE), 37 hours/week


About the Role

Accurate data drives everything we do. As Principal Pensions Data Administrator, you’ll combine specialist pension expertise—particularly in Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) norms—with a results-focused approach to data management.

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Championing data integrity across all regulatory processes.
  • Leading initiatives to enhance data standards while ensuring compliance.
  • Collaborating across teams to deliver seamless services in a member-first culture.

Responsibilities

Core Data & Compliance Duties

  • Lead the assessment and validation of high-complexity data submissions, ensuring REGULATORY compliance and meeting all deadlines.
  • Oversee and collate annual benefit letters for active and deferred scheme members, matching statutory obligations with clear communication.
  • Provide universal data sets for regular actuarial valuations.
  • Prepare and process data for special regulatory activities/projects, acting as a key liaison for SME purposes.

Employer & Member Relations

  • Be the primary data management contact point for scheme employers, monitoring their monthly files and resolving data issues.
  • Proactively follow-up on escalations or complaints, introducing prevention strategies to reduce incidents.
  • Liaise in workplaces on data accuracy, security, and member advocate processes.

Ensuring Data Excellence & Security

  • Demonstrate deep regulatory knowledge of LGPS/framework legislation; apply it to all data projects.
  • Investigate root-cause of formatting/accuracy errors across data pipelines.
  • Process/completely check high-complexity cases (e.g., actuarial requests), ensuring zero error tolerances.
  • Depict Team Leader absence as required and support data quality investigations.

Security & Conflict Resolution

  • Underwear legal confidentiality, handling risks and audit protocols for data protection.

Requirements

Essential

  • Display outstanding communication skills—building trust across all hierarchy tiers, including external partners.
  • Regulatory familiarisation: Fluency in pension and LGPS administration rules.
  • Data operations experience: Proven track record in managing data projects end-to-end.
  • Project contributions: Documented improvements in data practices.
  • Member-first mindset: Work to enhance usability for both employers and members.
  • Problem-solving acumen: Commitment to seamless process evaluation and speedy error resolution.

Nice-to-Have

  • UPM system knowledge.
  • Qualifications: Desirable for pensions administration/data management/business levels.
  • Training experience.

Entry Criteria

  • 5 GCSEs/PLCs (or equivalent), including Mathematics and English (Grade C/4 or above).
  • Desired addition: Holding (or in-situ) a pension administration qualification.
