Job Title: Principal Engineer, Pipelines
Location: South East England (Hybrid)
Overview
A permanent opportunity for an experienced Pipelines Engineer to provide principal-level technical leadership across major onshore and offshore pipeline work, including carbon capture. You will lead the pipelines discipline from concept selection through FEED, ITT, and execution, acting as design lead and owning the quality of the team's output.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct a team of discipline engineers and designers on large projects
- Perform design activities for rigid onshore and offshore pipelines across all project phases
- Supervise and review philosophies, specifications, routing studies, and mechanical design
- Check calculations and analyses including:
- Stress
- Spanning
- Global buckling
- Walking
- On-bottom roughness
- Tie-ins and expansion loops
- Oversee crossing design, hot tapping, and trenchless activities (HDD, microtunnelling)
- Prepare datasheets and technical requisitions, compile ITTs, and perform bid evaluations
- Validate pipeline inspection, maintenance, and emergency repair strategies
- Check third-party design and installation activities during execution
- Visit manufacturers (line pipe, coating, valves) as required
- Liaise closely with process, materials and corrosion, flow assurance, instrumentation, civil, and construction disciplines

Requirements
- Experience in oil and gas across rigid onshore and offshore pipelines
- Strong knowledge of pipeline design software, such as:
- DNV SESAM pipeline package
- PET
- AutoPipe
- SAGE Profile
- AGA
- Knowledge of ANSYS, ABAQUS, and OrcaFlex is desirable
- Familiarity with UK and international codes (BS, DNV, ISO, API, ASME) is desirable
- Proven experience leading and directing discipline engineers and designers
- Strong planning, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Ambition to develop into a high-level technical expert
- Ideally degree qualified in Pipeline, Subsea, Offshore, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
