Principal Technology Consultant / Technical Delivery Lead
12-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Circa £1,000 per day West London (Fortnightly Office Visits)
We are seeking an experienced Principal Technology Consultant / Technical Delivery Lead to join a major programme on an initial 12-month contract. This role is ideal for a highly credible technology leader who combines deep technical expertise with delivery leadership, architectural thinking and hands-on problem-solving capability.
This is not a role for a narrow specialist. We are looking for a true T-shaped technologist who has built experience across software engineering, cloud platforms, DevOps and architecture, whilst retaining the ability to get hands-on when required.
The Opportunity
You will act as a senior technical authority across the programme, providing technical assurance, driving delivery outcomes, engaging with stakeholders and helping shape the long-term technology strategy.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, leading technical discussions with senior stakeholders while also supporting engineering teams in resolving complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assurance across multiple workstreams and technology initiatives
- Lead and support end-to-end technology delivery
- Drive technical decision-making and architectural direction
- Engage with business and consumer stakeholders to understand requirements and outcomes
- Structure, analyse and solve complex technology and delivery challenges
- Support strategic technology planning and roadmap development
- Mentor and guide engineering teams and technical leads
- Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure and operationally effective
Essential Experience
- Strong technical breadth spanning:
- Software Engineering
- Cloud Platforms
- DevOps / Platform Engineering
- Solution or Technical Architecture
- Strong backend, cloud and operational technology background
- Ability to move comfortably between strategy, architecture and hands-on delivery
- Experience navigating complex technical and organisational challenges
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Demonstrable track record delivering large-scale technology initiatives

Ideal Profile
You are likely to be someone who has worked as a:
- Principal Consultant
- Technical Delivery Lead
- Lead Architect
- Principal Engineer
- Platform Architect
- Head of Engineering (hands-on)
- Technology Director within a delivery-focused environment
Most importantly, you will be a well-rounded technologist with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders and the practical experience to support engineering teams when required.
Contract Details
- Duration: 12 Months
- Rate: Circa £1,000 per day
- IR35 Status: Inside IR35
- Location: West London
- Travel: On-site attendance required approximately once every two weeks
