Join our team as our next Principal Presales Engineer for our Twilio Communications EMEA team.

About the Role

The Twilio Principal Presales Engineer blends deep technical expertise with an ability to forge strong executive relationships. You’ll engage potential clients from C-suite leaders to technical decision-makers, presenting engaging communications solutions celebrating digital innovation.

This Senior Presales Consultant role aims to deliver technical wins and ensure Twilio’s Customer Engagement Platform addresses customer needs across EMEA. This position focuses on solutions engineering:

  • Aligning Twilio’s customer-centric communications platform with customer objectives.
  • Driving deal success through strategic partnership, alongside New Business Account Executives, Solutions Engineers, and Third-Party Partners.

Responsibilities

You’ll be a trusted member of our sales team, responsible for:

  • Collaboration & Strategy: Work alongside Twilio’s New Business Account Executives (AE), other Solutions Engineers, and Professional Services teams to drive deal planning and execution.
  • Customer Partnership & Discovery: Build successful partnerships with Account Executives, refine market understanding, and communicate business value of Twilio solutions.
  • Sales Cycle Engagement: Participate in qualification, discovery, demonstrations, Proofs of Concept (PoCs), RFP responses, technical enablement sessions, and design documentation throughout the sales process.
  • Technical Expertise: Develop deep subject-matter knowledge of customer requirements and Twilio’s communications technology by actively leading technical discovery conversations and capability demos.
  • Complex Presentations: Design powerful technical presentations and demos to showcase Twilio product strengths—aiming at capturing and holding audiences of different skill levels.
  • Customer Insights: Troubleshoot client challenges, uncover new opportunities, and align Twilio offerings with strategic interactions while exhibiting experienced presentation skills.
  • Advocacy & Relationships: Become a trusted intelligent resource at decision-making levels—continually improving client relationships with tailored, solution-focused contributions.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to the wider Technical Engagement community by sharing knowledge, maintaining demo assets, and developing reusable technical resources to accelerate future solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 5 years of technical pre-sales experience in Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) or telecoms space.
  • A solid grasp of the sales cycle and the role of a Pre-Sales Engineer.
  • Proficiency with voice protocols including VoIP, SIP, and advanced messaging APIs.
  • Problem-solving creativity: Willingness to explore and drive success with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to build rapport while persuasively communicating complex technical topics to varied audiences—delegating explanations for both technical and non-technical professionals.
  • Insightful questioning ability: Drive technical discovery based on customer needs and solutions, translating to product evaluations.
  • Cloud architecture knowledge: Understand major cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Technical coding experience in:
    • Backend development: Java, C#, Node.js, Python, or PHP
    • Web and client-oriented development: JavaScript (JS), React
    • REST API design and consumption

Desired:

  • Mobile development: Understanding of iOS/Android development.
  • A background in Telecommunications, SIP, WebRTC, or Contact Centre centric technical roles.
  • Experience with automation, cloud-native development, and cloud platform expertise (GCP, Azure).
  • Sales methodologies and proven deal execution.
  • Aference in second languages a notable plus.

Location & Travel

This role is fully remote, highly accessible from the UK, Ireland, or Spain. Twilio values connection, so about 35% travel will be expected to enable in-person interactions.
