Job Title & Primary Objectives

Principal Project Manager – Data Centre

As a Principal Project Manager / Data Centre, you will:

  • Ensure engineering commissioning processes are accurately planned, managed, executed, and recorded.
  • Deliver on client commitments with timeliness and quality.
  • Leverage company management systems to achieve project goals.
  • Provide consultative advice on commissioning strategies, scopes of work, and performance requirements.
  • Proactively progress commissioning activities across the project lifecycle with General Contractors and Vendor teams.

You will also:

  • Collaborate with the company to improve systems and procedures.
  • Act as a Champion in a specific technical interest area.
  • Promote the HDR business through marketing activities.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Act with safety compliance under the Company’s health and safety policies.
  • Work diligently, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Ensure technical compliance and quality in deliverables.
  • Work closely with Client and General Contractor teams to develop commissioning strategies aligned with project goals.
  • Fully adopt HDR’s project and internal management systems to ensure complete building services commissioning.
  • Maintain awareness of project finances and expenditure control.
  • Attend required meetings, including technical updates.
  • Prepare technically detailed reports on project progress and key operational issues.
  • Develop commissioning management/validation documents and procedures.
  • Provide technical feedback on drawings, manuals, and technical submittals.
  • Prepare method statements, test scripts, and validation procedures.
  • Monitor and report internal/external scope changes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess progress, difficulties, and costs.

General Duties

  • Plan and arrange test instrumentation in advance of testing phases.
  • Assist in tender development and submissions.
  • Submit accurate weekly timesheets.
  • Proactively support colleagues to ensure team efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent (an advantage). *Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Management/Commissioning Management within a building services environment.
    • Experience with company Quality & Environmental policies and procedures*.
    • Proficiency in MS Office suite*.
    • Professional accreditations (Member of CIBSE, ASHRAE, or equivalent) considered a plus.

Minimum Requirements

  • Idea holds & fires Information from sources an employment judge Proven expertise required in:
    • Professional or Chartered Engineer status*(registered).*
    • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Management/Commissioning Management*.
    • Technical expertise in one or more critical disciplines.
    • Ready for European travel (mentioned abroad opportunities).
    • Remote-work flexibility available (hybrid/WFH options).
