Inpatient Clinical Psychologist (Paediatric Neuropsychology Specialism) or Paediatric Neuropsychologist

Area: Paediatric Therapies & Psychology

Location: London – The Portland Hospital

Hours: Part Time, 15–18.75 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience


We're looking for an Inpatient Clinical Psychologist (Paediatric Neuropsychology Specialism) or Paediatric Neuropsychologist to join our specialist Paediatric Therapies team at The Portland Hospital, the UK's leading private hospital dedicated to the healthcare of women, children and families.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and compassionate Child Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience of multidisciplinary team working and supporting children with complex neurodisabilities. Working across both inpatient and outpatient settings, you will provide highly specialist neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention, supporting children and their families through diagnosis, rehabilitation and ongoing care.

As part of a respected multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with consultants, therapists and healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding patient-centred care while contributing to the ongoing development of our specialist neuropsychology services.

As an Inpatient Clinical Psychologist or Paediatric Neuropsychologist, you'll:

  • Conduct psychological assessments and diagnostic testing for children with complex neurological conditions.
  • Undertake neuropsychology formulation, assessment and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Develop individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans tailored to each child's needs.
  • Provide education, guidance and emotional support to families managing complex neurodisabilities or receiving a new diagnosis.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, patient-centred care.
  • Deliver teaching and training to colleagues and healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of paediatric neuropsychology services.
  • Liaise with consultants, community teams and external organisations to support integrated care pathways.
  • Maintain high standards of professional, ethical and legal practice at all times.

What you'll bring

  • DClinPsy, EdPsy or recognised Statement of Equivalence.
  • Paediatric Neuropsychology qualification from a BPS-approved provider, or substantial experience in paediatric neuropsychology, neurological rehabilitation and/or acquired brain injury services.
  • Extensive experience working with children and young people with complex neurological conditions.
  • QICN qualification (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
  • Excellent understanding of a variety of therapeutic approaches and the ability to adapt interventions to meet individual needs.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to engage children, families and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven experience of collaborative multidisciplinary team working.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychological care.
  • Ability to work in accordance with professional, ethical and legal standards.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and participation in team meetings, training and service development activities.
