About the Role

In this Principal Safety Consultant role, you’ll lead high-impact rail engineering projects, using your expertise in standards such as EN50126, EN50129, IEC 61508, and CSM-RA. You’ll provide end-to-end safety assurance, support major infrastructure initiatives like Dublin’s National Train Control Centre, Crewe Hub remodelling, and East Coast Mainline regeneration. Travel isn’t required—deliver projects globally from the UK.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex rail safety engineering and assurance across engineering projects, applying certified standards (e.g., EN50126/50129, CSM-RA).
- Bid for, win, and successfully deliver high-complexity rail projects, aligning outcomes with client objectives.
- Develop safety assurance strategies, approvals, and risk assessments for major UK infrastructure ventures.
- Provide CSM and regulatory support for station renovations and other project phases.
- Innovate safety frameworks for cutting-edge rail systems (high-speed points, axle counters, signalling).
- Collaborate across global markets (Australia, US, Canada, Asia, Middle East) without requiring travel.
- Manage multi-project workloads with agility while maintaining productivity and project quality.
- Lead client workshops and stakeholder consultations to drive engagement and behaviours.
Your Contribution

Essential
- Demonstrated history in delivering rail safety engineering/assurance services aligned with key frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of risk management, systems engineering, or safety engineering.
- Experience in major rail infrastructure projects, ideally in consultation or multi-national markets.
- Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills with a ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
