WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US
The UK&I is one of SimCorp’s most strategically important markets — home to some of the world’s largest asset managers and asset owners, and a highly competitive environment where the right commercial talent makes all the difference.
We are at an inflection point. SimCorp One, our unified, front-to-back, cloud-native, AI-enabled investment management platform, represents a fundamental shift in how institutional investors can consolidate and modernise their operations. We are seeing huge success with large global players in other regions and believe the UK&I market is ready for this story. We are looking for an individual contributor with exceptional commercial talent to drive the story.
As a Principal Sales Manager, you will be one of SimCorp’s primary commercial leads in the UK&I — personally originating, developing, and closing complex, multi-million-pound platform deals with institutional investors. Reporting to the Head of UK&I Sales, you will carry a significant individual quota and operate as a trusted senior commercial presence in the market.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Develop and win new logos. Personally originate, develop, and close complex, multi-million-pound platform deals with Tier 1 to Tier 3 UK&I asset managers, pension funds and insurers. You own the full sales cycle from prospecting through to contract signature.
- Build and manage a high-quality pipeline. Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities through proactive outreach, industry networking, event participation, and collaboration with BDR and Marketing teams. Maintain rigorous pipeline hygiene and forecast accuracy in Salesforce.
- Lead complex deal teams. Orchestrate virtual deal teams across Solutions Engineering, Legal, Product, Professional Services, and senior leadership to deliver compelling proposals and navigate multi-stakeholder procurement processes.
- Build trusted C-suite relationships. Establish and nurture executive-level relationships with CIOs, COOs, CTOs, and CEOs at target organisations — becoming a trusted adviser on investment management technology strategy.
- Contribute to the UK&I go-to-market strategy. Provide market intelligence and competitive insight to the Head of UK&I Sales and broader leadership team. Identify whitespace opportunities, competitive displacement plays, and emerging trends in the UK&I buy-side market.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

What We Value

- Proven new business closer. 7+ years in enterprise software sales to buy-side financial services (asset managers, pension funds, insurers), with a demonstrable track record of personally originating and closing large, complex platform deals (£multi-million, 12–24 month cycles). You build pipeline — you don’t inherit it.
- Buy-side domain expertise. Strong understanding of the UK&I investment management value chain — front office, middle office, and back office — across Asset Manager and Asset Owner segments.
- C-suite credibility. Proven ability to engage, influence, and build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers (CxO) within UK&I institutional investors.
- Compelling communicator. Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills — you can translate complex platform capabilities into clear business outcomes and challenge how senior executives think about their technology landscape.
- Self-starter with a hunter mindset. You are proactive, resilient, and commercially driven. You thrive in environments where you need to create your own opportunities rather than wait for inbound leads.
