Job Description
Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a hands-on Salesforce Engineer with a proven track record of designing, building, and delivering robust, scalable, and secure solutions on the Salesforce platform. The ideal candidate combines deep technical craftsmanship with high engineering standards, an eye for detail, and a continuous improvement mindset. A strong understanding of the financial services industry is essential. The candidate should be able to translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions, uphold best-practice engineering and DevOps disciplines, and champion innovation. They should be comfortable leading technical design and development from pre-programme mobilisation through to production support, and mentoring other engineers along the way.

The team
The Asset Management Platforms department at Schroders is a global technology change delivery function that oversees and executes all technology delivery within the organization. The Client Engagement team sits within Client Technology and is responsible for all platforms associated with the provision of client relationship management, with a strong emphasis on Salesforce. The core team is responsible for understanding business needs, solving complex problems, mobilizing and delivering large change programs, and maintaining the integrity of the Salesforce platform and associated capabilities.

What You’ll Do
- Lead the technical design and hands-on development of high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions across the Salesforce platform, spanning both our Public and Private businesses.
- Own and champion engineering standards, code quality, technical governance, and platform integrity, ensuring solutions are maintainable, performant, and aligned to architectural principles.
- Design and build robust integrations connecting Salesforce with upstream and downstream platforms to enable joined-up client journeys and high-quality, trusted data.
- Drive DevOps maturity—CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management—to accelerate delivery and reduce risk.
- Deliver proof-of-value and proof-of-concept builds to rapidly test ideas, de-risk delivery, and build compelling cases for investment.
- Harness emerging AI capabilities—including Salesforce Einstein and Agentforce—to enhance productivity, decision-making, and client engagement, taking practical use cases from concept to implementation.
- Mentor and coach engineers, lead code reviews, and raise the technical capability of the wider team.
The Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications You Need
- Extensive hands-on Salesforce development experience within a large global financial services organisation, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and declarative configuration.
- Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I as a minimum; Platform Developer II, Application Architect, or System/Technical Architect certifications are highly desirable.
- Strong integration experience using REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven patterns, and middleware such as MuleSoft to connect Salesforce with the wider technology estate.
- Proven experience of DevOps and CI/CD tooling (e.g. Git, Copado, Gearset, Azure DevOps), automated testing, and release management on the Salesforce platform.
- Deep understanding of Salesforce architecture, data modelling, security, governor limits, and platform best practices, with the ability to take a holistic view of the target state across technology, data, and operating model.
- Good eye for detail and hands-on experience of producing technical designs, specifications, and high-quality, well-tested code.
- Broad engineering experience across a number of different capabilities, systems, and teams; a number of different (positive) experiences is valued higher than length of experience.
- Strong knowledge and experience of the end-to-end SDLC (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid etc.) and modern engineering disciplines.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and influence at all levels.
- Experience of working with global colleagues and stakeholders and sensitivity to cultural differences, time zones etc.
