Principal Scientist (Bioanalytical - LC-MS/MS)


Location: South Wales (On-site) Position: Permanent | Full-Time


About the Role

R&D Partners, in collaboration with a leading Clinical Research Organisation (CRO), is seeking an experienced Principal Scientist to provide scientific leadership in bioanalytical method development, validation, regulated study delivery, and analytics using ELISA and/or LC-MS/MS.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, validation, transfer, and optimisation of ELISA and/or LC-MS/MS bioanalytical methods.
  • Provide scientific oversight of regulated bioanalytical studies, ensuring alignment with quality, regulatory, and project timelines.
  • Review analytical data, study documentation, and technical reports, while acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex analytical challenges.
  • Mentor scientists and represent the laboratory in client interactions, technical discussions, and audits.

Skills & Requirements

Essential

✔ A degree in a relevant scientific discipline (MSc or PhD advantageous). ✔ Extensive hands-on experience with ELISA and/or LC-MS/MS in a regulated (GxP) laboratory environment. ✔ Proven experience in bioanalytical method development, validation, transfer, and technical data review. ✔ Strong understanding of:

  • GxP compliance (GxP)
  • Bioanalytical validation principles
  • Data integrity
  • Stakeholder management

Desirable

🔹 Experience in a CRO, clinical research, or clinical trials environment. 🔹 Expertise across both ELISA and LC-MS/MS platforms. 🔹 Supporting client audits, regulatory inspections, or laboratory quality systems. 🔹 Previous mentoring, leadership, or line management experience.
