Our Borehole Programme
Our Borehole Programme is entering an exciting phase, with significant investment planned throughout AMP8. As we continue to grow our in-house capability, we're keen to hear from talented hydrogeology professionals who would like to be part of the journey.
Whether you're building your career as an Assistant Hydrogeologist, developing your expertise as a Hydrogeologist, taking the lead as a Senior Hydrogeologist, or shaping strategy as a Principal Hydrogeologist, we'd love to hear from you.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As part of our Borehole Team, you'll play a key role in helping to secure resilient water supplies for the future. Depending on your experience level, you'll contribute to:
- Borehole design, rehabilitation and construction projects.
- Production and review of Design Specifications.
- Liaison with, and supervision of, borehole contractors.
- Test pumping, CCTV and geophysical survey programmes.
- Borehole condition assessments and performance reviews.
- Groundwater quality assessments and remediation activities.
- Groundwater resource evaluation and management.
- Regulatory engagement with organisations such as the Environment Agency and Drinking Water Inspectorate.
- Supporting the delivery of major AMP8 investment projects.
- Working closely with operational, engineering, environmental and construction teams, in both design and delivery capacities.
- Driving innovation, sustainability and best practice across our groundwater assets.

- Lead technical workstreams and project delivery.
- Mentor and develop junior Hydrogeologists.
- Influence business strategy and investment decisions.
- Manage key stakeholder relationships.
- Provide technical leadership across complex groundwater projects.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We're interested in hearing from candidates with experience in hydrogeology, groundwater resources, water environment, environmental consultancy, utilities, infrastructure or related sectors.
You may have:
- A degree or postgraduate qualification in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Experience in the design and delivery of borehole projects, groundwater investigations, or water resources.
- Knowledge of groundwater quality, environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A passion for protecting and enhancing water resources.
For Senior and Principal opportunities, we'd also expect significant industry experience, technical leadership capability and, ideally, chartered status (or working towards it) with a relevant professional body.
