Principal/Senior Hydrologist – Water Management Division

Currently, we seek a [Principal/Senior Hydrologist] to join our Water Management division. This role involves leading technically demanding projects relevant to the UK’s infrastructure, working closely with regulators including the Environment Agency, Network Rail and National Highways, alongside local government and private developers/investors.

Role Accountabilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting the technical direction for hydrological studies
- Estimating design flood flows and hydrographs using methodologies such as Flood Estimation Handbook
- Providing technical input to flood risk management and water resource projects
- Overseeing the production of flood risk assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments ( Water Resource Chapter )
- Managing project components, including time & resource coordination, team leadership and quality assurance
- Providing expert input to project teams, championing innovation within sector goals
- Supporting staff development and guiding peers to operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in an analytical discipline:
- Civil Engineering
- Geography
- Environmental Science
- Water Resources
- Engineering Hydrology
Experience & Technical Expertise
Leading Projects
- Ability to lead and deliver large-scale flood risk assessments
- Environmetal Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Statements skills required
Hydrological Methodologies
- Proficiency in Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH) and similar techniques
Technical & Regulatory Software
- Competency in ArcGIS Pro and QGIS
- Expertise in report writing and regulatory documentation
Project & Leadership
- Experience in Quality Assurance methods
- Demonstrated team & line management ability
Desirable
- Water Resource Assessments specifics
- Hands-on experience with Surface Water Management Plans (SWMPs)
- Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) implementation retained
