As our Transport Planning team continues to grow, we are looking to appoint either a Senior Transport Planner or Principal Transport Planner to play a key role in delivering high-quality transport planning advice across a diverse range of development projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a respected and ambitious business where your expertise, commercial awareness and client-focused approach will help shape the future growth of our transport planning offering.

The role

You will lead and support the delivery of transport planning commissions for a broad client base, working closely with developers, landowners, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
  • Managing development projects from inception through to planning determination
  • Providing highways and transport advice to clients and internal teams
  • Liaising with local authorities, National Highways and other stakeholders
  • Undertaking junction capacity assessments and transport modelling
  • Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor
  • Supporting business development activities and identifying new opportunities
  • Mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Contributing to fee proposals, project management and financial performance
  • For Principal-level candidates, leading projects, developing strategic client relationships and supporting the continued growth of the service line

About You

We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

Senior Transport Planner

  • Relevant degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
  • Experience delivering transport planning projects within a consultancy environment
  • Strong report-writing and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of the UK planning system and transport policy
  • Experience using industry-standard transport software
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Principal Transport Planner

  • Significant consultancy experience leading complex development projects.
  • Proven ability to manage clients and win repeat business.
  • Experience mentoring and managing colleagues.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to business development.
  • Chartered status or progression towards chartership would be advantageous.
