Principal / Senior Transport Planner
Senior/Principal Transport Planner – BTG Eddisons
One of the UK’s leading property consultancies, BTG Eddisons employs over 550 professionals across a nationwide network of 35 offices. We specialise in property, planning, development, valuation, agency, consultancy, and infrastructure services, helping clients deliver successful projects throughout the UK.
Our Transport Planning team is growing and we are looking to appoint either a Senior Transport Planner or Principal Transport Planner to provide high-quality transport planning advice across diverse development projects.
The Role
As part of our ambitious business, you will lead and support transport planning commissions for a broad client base, collaborating with developers, landowners, local authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
- Managing development projects from inception through to planning determination
- Providing highways and transport advice to clients and internal teams
- Liaising with local authorities, National Highways, and stakeholders
- Conducting junction capacity assessments and transport modelling
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor
- Supporting business development and identifying new opportunities
- Mentoring and developing junior team members
- Contributing to fee proposals, project management, and financial performance

For Principal-level candidates, additional responsibilities include:
- Leading complex projects
- Developing strategic client relationships
- Contributing to the growth of the transport planning service
About You
Senior Transport Planner
- Qualifications:
- Relevant degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline
- Experience:
- Delivery of transport planning projects within a consultancy environment
- Strong report-writing and analytical skills
- Good understanding of the UK planning system and transport policy
- Proficiency in industry-standard transport software
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management

Principal Transport Planner
- (In addition to Senior requirements):
- Substantial consultancy experience in leading complex development projects
- Proven ability to manage clients and secure repeat business
- Experience in mentoring and managing colleagues
- Strong commercial awareness and proactive business development
- Chartered status (or progression towards chartership) would be an advantage
